Hermanus Wine Route

In the outskirts of Hermanus lies the picturesque Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. Here, between the mountains, close to the Atlantic Ocean, is where you’ll find the Hermanus wine growers.

The elevation ensures cool breezes from the sea, creating a unique micro-climate which makes the valley the ideal location for noble varieties such as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. Several award winning wines are being produced in the valley and there are many excellent eateries to complement the tasting cellars. You can visit the tasting rooms of almost every winery 7 days a week for free tasting and sales.

All the wines from the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley are also available at the Wine Village – one of the country's best wine shops. It is the first and last stop on the route R320 up the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. Here you'll find the largest collection of South African wines under one roof – more than 700 wine producers are represented. A selection of their wines is opened daily for tasting and the knowledgeable staff take great pleasure in helping you.
