Great White Shark Cage Diving

Coming face-to-face with a Great White Shark in its natural habitat must be one of the most thrilling encounters you can experience. It's easy to understand why shark cage diving is such a popular tourist activity in South Africa.

Outside Gansbaai, only a 40 minutes' drive from Hermanus, you'll find one of the highest concentrations of Great White Sharks in the world. It is a unique area off the coast where sharks come to hunt seals.

Here you can also go on a shark cage diving trip. This incredible activity is something everybody can enjoy. There is no need for scuba equipment nor prior diving experience. All you need is a wet suit and a mask, which will be provided for you on the boat. You view the sharks from under the water surface by holding your breath. All the time you are within the protection of a special steel cage on the surface alongside the boat. A highly qualified and experienced crew are also there to assist you. If you don't feel like getting into the cage, you can always watch these ancient predators from the deck of the boat.

Sharks are spotted all year long and shark cage diving trips depart daily from Kleinbaai Harbour in Gansbaai. The trips are, of course, always depending on weather and sea conditions.
